A very unique course in a relaxing and peaceful setting. The turf conditions and greens approaches are terrific and truly approach firm and fast links golf. This course asks so many fun questions, especially around the greens. The par 3\'s have a great variety as it relates both to distance and wind direction. Stand out holes include the 1st (terrific green with large run-offs to get you ready for the challenge ahead), the redan 4th and short par 3 6th, the tight but reachable 12th, the 14th- a par 3 with an extremely fun green and the challenging par 4 16th. The course is not overly long (especially given the firm turf) and is fairly wide off of the tee. With that being said, I often found that it was better to think strategically with the placement of tee shots in order to get the best angles to the greens. The greens would fit in nicely in the Sandhills of North Carolina and warrant repeat play in order to understand all of the nuance that Doak has put into them. |
